I’ve started reading a non fiction book called moxie. I decided to read this because it seems like a lighter read because the last book I read was an existential novel called the stranger by Albert Camut. I really wanted a lighter book because the other one was a really heavy topic.

I am not far into this book at all but I think the only problem that I can see coming is that there is a super Agressive and sexist guy at her school and the only advice that I can give the main character is to be opinionated and be an independent and verbal thinker.

The main characters mother is acting very calm and routine as he has since her daughter was born, even though earlier in life she had a very oppsosite lifestyle. She was a feminist and she would riot very often. I think she is acting different because gm she had a kid which put a stop to her crazy lifestyle, even though now her kid is starting a to act like she did.

I haven’t really developed opinions or thoughts about the characters that have been presented to me but I think that there wouldn’t be very many differences expect geographically. I think that I would get a long with the main character and most of the people close to her because of the similarities in our interests and views.

Something that I find interesting in the book that you are currently reading would be the topics that is addresses or the lifestyle changes that occur. In the second paragraph is sates that the mother was a feminist and would riot very often, now she is clam and passive maybe because of her child. This shows the amazement of children and the effect they can have on you. The mother went from a common rioter to someone who is calm, this change the amount of change is vast.

Book: whiskey words & a shovel
This is a poetry book and the poem I chose is:
Midnight Noises;
´nothing is louder
than overthinking
after midnight´
This poem strikes me because I have the same experience I would stay up till midnight and think, everything quiet, the only loud noise I´ll hear is my thoughts, and I can bet some other people can relate that your thoughts our thoughts are louder.

The 2-3 lines I choose is:
´so many angels are going through hell
in search of love dating demons´
and the picture I have in my head for this poem is that an innocent angel wanting love is suffering dating a girl or boy that has been hurting them for a while but keeps coming back to them because they have this strong power as a demon does. You can also see this in reality because it happened to you or to the ones you love.

The book that I chose and finished was I survived The Nazi Invasion,1944 by Lauren Tarshis
The chose this book was because I really think that this topic is fascinating and scary at the same time. I have also heard good thinks about the book and they were all true. The hole bad thing/problem that occurs in this book is the holocaust and the only advise that I would have for Max and Zena is remember the good times, stick together ,and Run! Max is very protective over his sister Zena and would not let her get out of his sight if possible and they don't trust anyone not even people of her kind. I think that Max is acting this way is because of the traumatic experience that is going on because they are the only ones of there family still together because her aunt Hannah had escaped before the Jewish people were put in to camps or ghettos and there grandfather disappeared so they would natural want to stick together. If I had brought Max and Zena to school or to my house every body would be like get these kids some food and were did you find these malnourished children. My mom would take them to the hospital to get them hooked up to IVs an d then try to find there parents and get them prosecuted.

1. Catching fire by Suzanne Collins
2. i chose this book because i enjoyed reading the first book The Hunger Games.

The book starts off with Katniss dealing with the aftermath of the Hunger Games win. She's scared for the future Games, having to relive the traumatizing event but as coach this time for the next victims. She's feeling this way because she's setting off for the victory tour around the districts signifiying the next Hunger Games are only half a year away.
Katniss is very rebellious and i feel she will find an interesting way to disobey the Capitol but for sure not without some obsticles.
My advice to her would be find a loop hole in the rules and to be careful.

I am reading The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R Tolkien. I chose this book since I was already reading it.

Explain how a character is acting and why you think the character is acting that way.

Frodo is trying to get to the elvish city of Rivendell. He has a magic ring called the one ring that makes you invisible if you put it on. The black riders are trying to obtain that ring to return the power of middle earth to the dark lord Sauron. I believe Frodo is trying to get to Rivendell so he has a place where he is protected. The elves there might be able to give him some idea as to what to do with the ring moving forward.

Write about what you think would happen if you brought one of your characters to school for a day? What would happen if you brought them home to your family?

Gandalf is a wizard and one of the main characters in my book. If I brought him to school he would probably give lots of advice and get me kicked out of school. The hobbits know him for his fireworks so if he gave a firework display it would most like start a fire and get me expelled for bringing him.

I choose this book because it was laying around my house and I never read it so I just decided to read it.

1.in My book, right know it sounds like one character in the book called Roy is have trouble with one bully at school named Dana and he is older than Roy and in the bus he beat him up but at time i feel like Roy doesn't even mind him picking on him.He probably pretends he is not doing anything and keeps it to himself. Some advice for him is to speak to a trusted adult about the situation he is have with this bully.

2.I feel like my character is just acting like he is ignoring him because he doesn't want to go worse for himself than it already is.

3.If i brought Roy to school ,he would feel more safe because he won't be getting beat up.IF i brought him home my family would think he was a little weird because he observes everything.

The Giver

Lois Lowry

I decided to chose this book because it is another dystopian society book like Farenheit 451. I was interested to read more books about crooked societies so I am really enjoying it so far.

1. In this story, the main character Jonas is struggling with his job assignment coming up. He can volunteer at certain places to test out certain jobs, but he hasn't found a job he loves. Jonas has a lot of anxiety about his job assignment. My advice would be for him to stay patient, because the elders will assign a job perfect for him. They spend a lot of time thinking about the assignments, so I don't think they will mess up with his assignment

3. If I were to bring Jonas to my school or home he would be extremely confused. His society has many more rules and restrictions that he would be shocked by the freedom I have. Also, he would be very polite as in his society you are required to apologize and thank people. Overall, I think he would be confused by our society, but enjoy his life more in it.

The name of my book is Death Wave by Ben Bova
2. I chose this book because it continued the last book that I had read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and this was the next one in the series so I decided to invest myself in it.
(for fiction readers)
The main character Jordan Kell, is trying to warn the human race that an impending death wave will be upon them, the head of the world council, Anita Halleck doesn’t agree with Jordan. Since Anita is afraid of the new alien technology that Jordan brought back that's in his alien wife's head. Since Jordan has a suspicion that him and his wife had been separated he decides to escape his hotel is Barcelona and look for help elsewhere, specifically the other star travelers he was with when he had discovered New Earth.
The character is trying to get as far away from the authorities because he wants to warn people about the death wave, which is admirable. If I was in the characters situation I would do the same thing .
I would think that would be hilarious. I think at school my character would tell stories of his travels to New Earth and the new experiences he’s gone through, he would try to make the aliens not as far away as we think they are because they’re replicants of us. I don’t think he would talk about the death wave because he wouldn’t want to scare children. I think he would react the same way with my family as well, only much more polite.

The book i'm reading is The Hobbit the author is J. R. R. Tolkien
I chose this book because I didn't get to finish it last semester because it's a long book but I plan on finishing it this semester.
One of Thorin Oakenshield’s problems is Bilbo. Not in a sense that Bilbo is trying to harm him like everything else on his journey, Bilbo is just not used to the adventurers lifestyle. The only reason Thorin keeps him around is because Gandalf was the one to pick him out for this adventure in the first place. Thorin has no respect for Bilbo and he notices. The way to solve this is Bilbo has to do something for him to show he is a worthy addition to the group. Then Thorin will respect him and show him the support he needs.
Bilbo right now is running through caves while being chased by goblins and he has been separated from the group of dwarfs. Bilbo mentions a lot how he wishes he was home. He talks about the food he would eat, the fire that would roar, and the cozyness of his bed that waits for him back home. I think Bilbo says all these things about how he hates the journey but he wasn't forced to go he went on his own. I believe Bilbo is afraid of what comes next but he is also exhilarated by the new and exciting adventures he's having.
3. Write about what you think would happen if you brought one of your characters to school for a day? What would happen if you brought them home to your family?
If I was to bring Gandalf to school for a day I don't feel like the old man wouldn't fit in. First of all because he's a wizard so he’d be a distraction in class but he probably wouldn't be the best learner because he thinks he knows everything he needs to know. If I brought him home my parents would ask me why I brought a wizard home, then we would probably sit down and eat a nice dinner. Then stay by the fire for a long while.

The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien
I started this book last semester and I really want to finish it
1. Explain a character's problem and then offer your character advice on how to solve this problem.
The main character’s problem is he misses this woman he’s in love with. Sometimes his distractions cost him lives of the people he’s supposed to be leading or puts them in danger. I would offer him the advice of: Even though you may think you love Martha, love sadly has to wait. If you want to make it out of the war alive and ever see her again you must focus on your team and your tasks. Work now, earn rewards later.
2. Explain how a character is acting and why you think the character is acting that way.
Jimmy’s in love. Love makes you do crazy things. Unfortunately, his location is ruthless and doesn't make time for reminiscing. Sure, soldiers who have gone off to war think of their loved ones, but Jimmy has grown to an obsession because of Martha. There was no closure and he drives himself insane- not the ideal mentality when you’re supposed to be fighting in a war. The poor man’s weeped over her photo one night just to rip it to shreds the next. His troop is starting to notice and frankly, there’s no hiding it.

The Non fiction book that I’m reading is a play script named The Laramie Project, and its a play by Moises Kaufman and the Members of Tectonic Theater Project. I chose to read this book because one of my peers spoke really good about it.

I haven't read that much yet and not much has happened so far. There have been many different interviews, with many different people. There were a bunch of questions of about Wyoming and Laramie. Towards the end of what I have read so far they started speaking about Matthew Shepard. Who he was and what his personality was like.

“And they brought me into their room and told me that if I did that scene, that they would not come to see me in the competition. Because they believed that it is wrong-that homosexuality is wrong-they felt strongly about it that that they didn't want to come see their son do probably the most important thing he’d done to that point in his life.” To give a little context about this quote, this man was getting interviewed and he talked about how growing up he his family didn't have much money. He wanted to go to a good college so he had to get a scholarship. He decided to do this acting competition and the person that got first place would get a scholarship. His parents did not come to see him win first place just because of the fact that he would have a gay part. Its so weird to me how parents would be able to do that to their own child. This man was doing something so important and his parents couldn't put there hatred away for their son.

This play seems extremely interesting because of how prevalent some of the topics discussed are, and how this story is real. I also think because the parents are against who there son is it would be interesting to see if anything that they say even makes sense to why they feel that way. I also think it would be cool to see the perspective change of the parents after the "incident" occurs and how this town possibly comes together.

Book: Legend of the Dragon King
Author: Tang Jia San Shao
In the book, I’m on chapter 163. To sum it up so far, beasts or soul beasts are going extinct due to their usefulness in cultivation. The dragon king’s power is sealed in a boy named Tang Wulin, unknowingly it brings benefits. Some of the benefits that are included are inhuman strength(so far he can strike for almost 9000 pounds of force) and a dragon claw soul skill. The main problem or dilemma that the main character is in right now in the book would be the martial soul he was given. In the world he lives in, at age 6 your martial soul is displayed and each one varying from different soul beasts or items. Tang Wulin was given a Bluegrass martial soul, or to put it simply a trash martial soul, it has been affecting his cultivation, pushing him behind farther and farther. My solution to this problem would be to obviously work harder, but in addition to that would be to take advantage of secondary professions. His career in blacksmith is astonishing due to his strength, but to have another profession would help in gaining money to which he can buy cultivation resources.
The main character Tang Wulin is acting very emotional around this time in the book. It is somewhat affecting his decisions and cultivation. The cause of this would be of the relationships he has created in his years as a kid. First, both his parents have left because they felt ashamed that they couldn’t provide for him in the most crucial part of cultivation, they are gone until Tang Wulin can get strong enough to find them. His former blacksmith master has denounced him as his disciple so that Tang Wulin can learn under a better teacher, and finally most of his teammates and friends have left the school. All of these is a set amount of time in under a month, you can imagine the effects these actions can have on a little 10 year old. I feel as that a time skip is coming forward, in this time nothing has really happened except for gaining experience in cultivation and blacksmithing, so maybe when Tang Wulin is older he can set out to find his parents.

-I'm reading Harry potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K Rowling.
-I read goblet of fire and i just read it. Not really for a reason i went backwards but there is no reason. Oof.
-Harry returns to hogwarts for his 3rd year. The kids are getting older and classes are becoming more difficult. Harry has the problem of thinking Sirius Black is out to kill him. I think Harry should chill. I mean yes he is out for you but not to kill you. He wants to see you as he is your godfather. Harry should trust Dumbledore, the school and the Ministry.
-If Harry rolled up to HTH he would be intrigued that he is at an american muggle school, its an arts school so not one you’d find in the uk. Harry would meet my mom. Id think my mom would like him. She would be nice to him. They would get along well.

Reading a book series backward is the only way to truly enjoy a series I guess lol. I find it funny that you started backwards and just went with it. The story may be confusing if you can't flip everything around. Of course, this is assuming that you haven't read the series before. I still need to finish the series (I should've just read the series backwards as well)

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K.Rowling.
I have been reading the Harry Potter books since 6th grade and decided that I should continuing reading.
Cornelius Fudge, the formal head of ministry. Recently replaced as he had many faults. There has been many problems with the dark arts wizards. They have been affecting the muggle world and Fudge is trying to resolve it by talking to the mayor of the Muggle city that Harry Potter lives in. He could increase money that goes into defense and training Aurora. It would help muggles and wizards not be affected the by the Imperius Curse which allows the caster to completely take control of the person affected.

David Yates is the mayor of London, he is in full on panic. Everyone is against him based on the attacks, on the bridge especially. The destruction of the bridge caused many concerns. He is mad at the wizarding world as he cannot understand why they aren’t acting properly. He is obviously in a rage as he can not comprehend magic and things of fiction keep happening in the non-fiction world. He doesn’t know what to do.

1. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: Volume 2 by Bryan Lee O´Malley
2. I chose this book to be my semester 2 book because I already finished the first one and this one if the next one in the series.

Explain a character's problem and then offer your character advice on how to solve this problem.

Scott Pilgrim is dating a highschool girl named Knives. Scott then meets a girl, Ramona Flowers, who he really likes and hes pretty sure hes in love with. He has a date with her and it goes really well. But, he does all of this while still dating Knives. The next time he sees Knives he plans on breaking up with her, but once the time came, he couldn't bring himself to do it because she was so nice. The advice I would give is to break up with Knives. Although you may not want to because you know it´ll break her heart, it's better than faking your love with her, being in an unhealthy relationship, and lying to her.

Explain how a character is acting and why you think the character is acting that way.

Scott Pilgrim is supposed to break up with his current girlfriend Knives because he is in love with another girl and went on a date with her. He planned to break up with her the next time he saw her, but didn't when he saw Knives being to nice to him. Scott is acting this way because he feels uncomfortable breaking up with her because he knows it´ll break her heart. This is a common scenario because it's common for people to feel empathy towards others, and they know how much it would hurt to be dumped.

I also enjoyed this book because it proposed a moral dilemma for the main character, where all of his options are awful. It makes you sympathize with Scott, but also realize he was terrible for putting himself in this situation where he always will hurt others.

I chose this book because it is another collection of poetry, but it is separated in different acts to show different perspectives. I also thought that the title was interesting because in my head it almost sounded a little sarcastic.
“Sticks and stones never broke my bones, but words made me starve myself until you could see all of them.” I liked this poem because it was one of the shorter poems, but it was the most impactful. The author took a saying everyone has heard and talked about a horrible period in her life and how she was anorexic because of things that people said.
One literary device I found was a metaphor in the poem that says, “ where do all the memories go, the ones we hide away with lock and key yet continue to shape us all the s a m e?” I also found a use of imagery in the poem that says, “at eleven years old the doctor weighed me and afterward my mother told me I was too fat and that I needed to go on a diet immediately. For an entire year, food barely passed through my lips. I did not even allow myself to take a drink of water because I wanted to be so thin that I could blow away with the slightest breeze-d i s a p p e a r .” These literary devices help the reader picture the authors emotion during the hard times, where your own mom tells you to change. The use of metaphor helps you picture it better because you can connect to things in your everyday life. Overall, they help you understand the situations and what it was like.
“Now that I think about it, she always did make sure i was watching while she pried the balloon out of my hand and let it float away.” These lines make me see a young girl who is super excited about something she wants to do or be, and she excitedly is telling her mom, but every time all she does is put doubt in her head to let her know she can’t. She runs away, crying because she doesn’t realize she can.

Allie, I also feel like the poem you chose is so simplistic but so impactful. I liked how you connected imagery to your writing, it makes it so I can envision it more! The poetry book you are reading sounds very interesting.

This book sounds very interesting, Allie, especially the part about “Sticks and stones never broke my bones, but words made me starve myself until you could see all of them.”

The room was large, and in one corner a fire burned in the wide, open fireplace. Beds and settles were arranged all around the rough-hewn planked walls, and in them slept children of all sizes, with their clothing on. Under one of the windows the housewife sat at the table drinking her morning coffee.
Hatt, Emilie Demant. With the Lapps in the High Mountains: A Woman among the Sami, 1907–1908. University of Wisconsin Press. Kindle Edition.
Emilie Hatt is in Sapmi with the Sami learning about their way of life. This is in 1908, so it is obviously outdated, but it still relevant to their culture today. The main difference between their life today and their life back then is that they are not oppressed by the Swedes, Norwegians, or Finns. Currently in my book she is travelling with John Turi in Northern Sweden during the middle of summer and there's still a meter (3 feet) of ice on the lakes. They are currently planning their trip to herd the Reindeer in the mountains between Sweden and Finland.
So far in “With the Lapps in the High Mountains” Emilie Hatt has travelled from her university in Copenhagen to Northern Sweden to live the with Sami. She is currently living with the family of John Turi, a native of Sapmi who wants to publish the first book in Sami. She met John Turi the year before while travelling in Sapmi with her sister. Now they are preparing for her first herding experience.

I am starting back up with Life In Motion by Misty Copeland, because I was reading it before but then I switched to Cooked. I wanted to pick it back up!

Misty faces the struggles of being different then others who she dances with, in terms of race. She came from a different background then the other girls, one much more difficult and excruciating. She struggles with not being good enough, and the advice I would give to her is to keep perservering through it and to try her very best.

Later on in the story, Misty gains confidence. I feel like she does this because she starts to believe in herself and feel like she can accomplish more and more each day. It was neat to see how she went from lacking confidence to having a lot more in such a short period of time.

1. Name of book and author of book
The Quantum Zoo by Marcus Chown.
2. Why you have chosen this book to be the first book you finish for Semester 2
I love Astrophysics and space and this book is another book that has both of those in it.
For Non-Fiction Readers, answer TWO of the following questions
1. Copy a short passage that you found to be interesting. Explain what made it interesting for you.
“The remarkable fact that 99.9999999999999 percent of of the volume of ordinary
matter is empty space.”
I found this quote interesting because this is a-well a remarkable fact. Another cool fact about matter is that matter always has a limit to density. For example, if you clustered earth with so much density and no empty space. It’s gravity would become unstable and the entire earth would be a black hole the size of a penny. So all of humanity in clustered together with no empty space and all mass fitting into a sugar cube isn’t even close to the most density possible.
2. Explain the basic information that is being presented in terms of the 5Ws: Who? What? When? Where? Why?
Who?: A greek philosopher known as Democritus.
What?: “If I cut this rock in half, then in half again, can I go on cutting this forever?”
When?: 440 BCE
Where?: Greece
Why?: He had an interest in studying science and Philosophy. He later ended up becoming a Philologist, later making claims and theories about life and matter. He made this question as he was curious about life and matter.
3. Write a summary of what you read in the book so far.
Marcus Chown explains to us about density of matter and that remarkable fact I had mentioned earlier. Later He talks about matter and Democritus with his claims and questions on life and matter. Another fact Marcus Chown shares with us is that “ten million atoms make up a single period on this page.” Also, one last thing about atoms in this book. Atom come from the greek word a-tome which means uncuttable.

“But she doesn’t need to see or hear the neighbors dog. She can sense it. And even when there is no possible way for her to get downstairs because we’ve piled everything we own into an 8-foot-tall stair-blocking super-barrier, she can slam herself against our bathroom door until we lock her in the bathroom and reconsider all our decisions.”
I thought this quote was interesting because it was funny. I thought it was funny because they can try all they want but they can stop their dog.
Who: The author, her mom , her boyfriend, her sister, and her 2 dogs.
What: The story is about her experiences throughout her life.
When: Throughout her life.
Where: Her house and families houses .
Why: It happened because it’s life.
Summary: this book is about a girl named Allie Brosh and her experiences throughout life. The book is split up into sections that act as chapters that are different points in her life. The chapters are about experiences as a child, with depression, owning a crazy dog , and some other things.

1. History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera
2. I decided to read this book because its a really sad but interesting book about a grieving boy and how he deals with his life and impulsive decisions after his ex-boyfriend dies.

1. Griffin's problem is that he can barely deal with his grief, and he feels like no one will understand his emotions. Some advice I can offer him is that talking about your feelings helps so much. Holding emotions back gets you no where. Thats what I did for a while, but once I got all those feelings off of my chest, I've felt a lot better than I did before. He should talk to his family, or someone at least.
2. Griffin, the main character of this book, is acting very impulsive and closed off from his family after his ex dies. I think that he may be behaving this way because he feels as if no one understands how he's feeling about the situation, and he doesn't like the one person who does.

Wonder by Raquel Jaramilo

My book hasn't came yet so I am improvising and picked a book lying around on the floor

The main characters problem is that he's struggling on what people think of him but I guess the advice I would offer is just not to care but then again that is a hard thing to do.

Theres this one characters name julian and he dose not like august he makes fun of him here and there and I feel he acts this way because our main character is different from everyone else.

If I brought the main character to my school I feel like he would be treated well by the rest my peers seem like nice people. If I brought him home I really wouldn't know what would happen.

1. They never came back
2. I chose this book because it seemed really intresting when i read the back.

1. The main character is cathy she is really social she loves all of her friends and is taking extra curicular classes durring summer break, but her intentions for going isnt just go learn shes looking for sombody but when she actually meets him and he reconises her she acts like if it was their first time meating and says that shes not who he says she is. So maybe if she conffesed to who she was scince the beggining she could have avoided everything bad that happend later on, that if she was honest all of those dissastes and heart aches wouldnt have happend.
2. if I brought her home to my family my parents would probaly greet her with a loving welcom and treat her as part of the family as they always do with everybody.

The book I chose is Gideon Smith and the Mechanical Girl by David Barnett. I chose this book because my brother told me I should read it.

Gideon Smith was a boy living with his father after his mother died years before. The story starts off with Gideon's father telling him to go fishing with him because he is getting old and will no longer be able to Captain his boat anymore. Gideon doesn't like fishing much, so he decides to fake an injury and stays home. On the next day, his father goes fishing and dies out at sea by mysterious creatures.

When Gideon learns of his fathers death, he's faced by sadness, anger and guilt because he believes that he should have gone with his father and died with him out at sea. I feel like a solution to his problem could be going to someone for help coping with his dad's death. Instead, he gets angry and leaves the town with no set destination. I think Gideon is doing this to run away from his problems instead of facing them.

If I brought Gideon to school, he would most likely leave or something. If I brought him home, he'd most likely lock himself in a room and act sad. If anyone tried to talk to Gideon, he'd probably get angry and lash out at them. Not the best houseguest, I suppose.

The book I am reading is “Harry Potter and the philosophers stone”. The reason I am reading this book is because I want to re-read the Harry Potter series this year.

1. One character that has a problem is Ron.
In the book, there’s a part where they look in a mirror that shows you your deepest desires. When Ron looked in the mirror he saw himself as a house prefect, and the quidditch team captain, which are both roles down of his brothers have filled. Ron is afraid of not being as good as his brothers and disappointing his family. My solution to this problem would be to find something he likes and try his hardest in that area. I think as long as he tries his hardest and disregards the pressure then everyone will be happy on the end.
2. The characters acting I will be commenting on is snape. Snape is a grouchy, mean, and impartial person. He is always trying to find new ways to take points from gryffindor and bully Harry. I think the reason he is acting in such a way is because coming from the slytherin house and being the house master, he wants slytherin to win the house cup.

Magnus Chase The Ship of the Dead
I chose this book because it is the next book in the series and it has mythology. It is connected to one of my favorite series, Percy Jackson.

1.His problem is he has to defeat Loki in a flyting, which is a poetic exchange of insults. I would give him the advice of looking at poetry to get an idea of what poetry is and to pan what he is going to say.

2. He is worried to do the flyting because if he looses the whole world goes into doom. Ragnarok will start which is the end of the world. He has to win it because people are relying on him

The book that I just started to read is The Sun and Her Flowers. This is a poem book, actually my first poem book that I’ve ever read. So far I’ve come to realize that this book is about anything that comes to mind and trying to cope with it. My favorite quote so far in the book is
“you are a mirror
If you continue to starve yourself of love
You’ll only meet people who’ll starve you too
If you soak yourself in love
The universe will hand you those
Who’ll love you too”
-Simple math
This quote means surround yourself with the people who love you, and to make sure your good to yourself.

"Echo" by Pam Munoz Ryan
I chose to start this book because I got bored of reading Nancy Drew books.

1. Explain a character's problem and then offer your character advice on how to solve this problem.
In the book, a boy named Friedrich Schmidt is having problems with his appearance, especially because he lives in Nazi Germany. If I could give advice to him, I would tell him to stand up for himself.

3. Write about what you think would happen if you brought one of your characters to school for a day? What would happen if you brought them home to your family?
If I brought Friedrich to school for a day, kids would probably tease him because he has a large reddish-purple birthmark on one side of his face. If I brought Friedrich home, my sister would probably ask why he has a birthmark.

This sounds like a pretty interest ing book and both of our books take place in the same time period. I would love to hear more about his experiences with teasing. How old is he?

1. The boy in the stripped pajamajs by John Boyne.
I choose this book because the movie was empowering.
2. In the book there isnt really a problem more so that the boy on the outside of the fence realizes that his friend or the boy in the stripped pajamas isnt getting treated fairly like him. The kid should talk to his father about the boy and sparing his life.
If i brought the boy in the stripped pajamas to school than he would probably cry or freak out because its a different time zone an learning 9th grae stuff in english. At home my parents would yell at me to wy i brought the boy home and take him to the authorities.

The title of my book is called Whiskey Words & a shovel by R.H Sin
The page I am on is page 92.

What did you like about this book? Why?

I really love this book because the quotes are very inspiring to others !One of my favorite quotes from reading this week would have to be "The downfall of having a good heart is that you find yourself constantly searching for angels inside of demons and they wonder why the good know so much pain." I love this quote so much because I can connect to it in many. This book mainly talks about relationships between either friends, family and relationships in general. There arent any characters I can relate too but there are quotes I can relate to at the top. What does poetry do for you?

The book I am reading is The House on Mango Street. The author of this book is Sandra Cisneros. I am on page 12. A quote that stood out to me is on page 8. “She can’t play with those Vargas kids or she’ll turn out just like them.” I chose this quote because my last name is Vargas and my family and I are a little crazy. Another quote i found that is on page 9 is “Someday I will have a best friend all my own.” I think that all of us has been at a stage where we felt like we had nobody to lean on or don't have a friend. Have you ever felt alone? How did you cope with it or find a resolution?
