"I’m going to remember the stars. I never stargaze and it was just so pretty and great." ~Audra G.

"What was fun was doing the cooking for the group. I made yakisoba with ramen with vegetables and spam with Jessire. My group really enjoyed the food we made."

~Brandon G.

"The tent conversations--talking about the day, what happened, having snacks and reviewing everything was awesome."
 ~Josh P.

"The whole camp was really open and there was a lot of space.  The space gave us the opportunity to explore and come closer with our friends. We had to make good choices for ourselves."
 ~Rileigh H.

"I didn’t know that there were other jobs other than park ranger when it comes to the forest service but there is a lot of diversity in the forest service. Some of them sounded very interesting. Lindsey, the Recreation Officer, was so interesting because she was in charge of the campsite and her sharing everything that goes into it was eye opening."
~Ella M.

“Cooking was challenging because it was hard to find the food because it kept moving around. I lost my orange juice at first but then I found it! The cooking was really messy but our meals turned out really good. I made pancakes and bacon and I was cooking with Sebastian. My favorite meal we ate was the carne asada. It was really good and Rileigh and Ella cooked it for our group.”
 ~Bella N.

"It was really personal during Connections. Everyone really respected one another and each other’s opinions. It was a safe space to let out what they were thinking and who they appreciated."

~Maddy C.

"I met a lot of new people and talked to new people I didn’t know.
I made a lot of friends."
~David E.

"Nobody was ever alone. You could always be next to someone and get to know them. We had a lot of responsibility out there."
~Cameron W.

"Playing left right center with Austin, Isa, Ally, Olivia, Andrea, and a whole mess of people was really fun!"
~Helena K.

"The rocks were really fun and it was a space where we could be social, talk to one another. We had a lot of freedom."
 ~Braden B.

"Lindsey’s talk was the most interesting to me because it was cool because the outdoors gets to be her office. I think I might shadow her for Career Day!"
~True A.

"Seeing the view during the hike was amazing."
~Kai G.

"I started a fire in the fire pit multiple times!"
~Noah W.

"I will remember hanging out at the rocks.
We got to chill with our friends and it was fun!"

~Jenna C.

"My favorite part was either talking to my friends or when the rangers came!"
~Ally C.

"I'd say the last talk with Lance was awesome because I didn't know that the Native Americans used the cracks to make the stew of the acorns. That was really interesting. His talk was something different that I didn't know about before."
~Cole C.

"There are so many things I will remember. When we were doing Ms. Carly's station and we were all in a knot and we first failed communicating and then we split into two groups. Our group was communicating a lot and I was drowning in arms all around me. The other half of them gave up but my group didn't because we kept saying 'Don't give up! Don't give up!' and we eventually did it. It was so fun just hanging out with my classmates."
~Andrea A.

"I think that the water one with Tori was the most interesting ranger talk because I didn't know that when you make a trail, that it affects the water. I didn't know that when you put the water in the dirt, that it filters it for you! It was cool information."
~Stella G.

"It was fun cooking for other people but it was challenging because of what different people wanted on their food! We made turkey sandwiches for our group. My favorite meal I ate was the spaghetti that Zac made. He served it with caesar salad!"
~Andy J.

"My favorite part of the trip was the firefighters. It was interesting how much they work and how they sometimes have to go off for two weeks suddenly and they really didn't have one specific schedule because they're doing different things all the time."
~Ci'Cayla W.

"Watching the sunrise was an experience for when we were all together--Nate, Mia, Dani and I. We have pictures. It was really gorgeous. It was really interesting when the sun went against the trees because the shadows were casting down on one side and not the other and it just created a very relaxing feeling. We woke up around 6am to go see it."
~Claire J.

"It was kind of strange having my birthday out there because a lot of people said happy birthday to me even though I didn't know them all yet!"
~Corbin B.

Picture

"Singing around the campfire was really a cool experience because I got to see the true and goofy side of everyone as we messed around, were ourselves with our own true voices."
~Brandon T.

Picture

"I made a lot of new friends and I did things for my other friends, like cooking. The hydrologist talk was interesting because I never thought that fires would affect the water that we drink."
~Marc R.

"This trip requires you to work different types of ways including cooking, recycling, and researching. Aside from that, this trip is all about having a good time and bonding with your teammates that you've never known. For that sole purpose, the retreat is a reason to like your school and your classmates!"
~Austin D.

"It was very, very cold. At first, I didn't know how to set up camp or how to set up the tent but then I ended up doing it together with my friends. It was my first time setting up a tent!"
~Jessica R.
