"My favorite part about this trip was bonding with friends. I also liked talking to Mr. Schwartz in the car. I like that the teachers trusted us. I loved the meadow."
~Maya

"I learned a lot there like how Indians were there centuries ago and also how there were bugs killing oak trees and how we should burn the firewood where we bought it. The part from camping I will never forget is when we went hiking and we saw cool rock formations and the cool grassy plains."
~Jack

"Being able to talk to rangers about what they do is fun. Learning why they picked the job they have and what they do and why they do it intrigues me. There are way more jobs than I thought there were."
~Cole

"My favorite moment when we went camping was on the last night there. I went to the rocks and stargazed on the rocks with my friends. We were so scared to walk to the rocks because we thought some snakes would get us! Then, we went to one of the campfires that were nearby and started joking around and laughing with joy. It was so fun that day, especially when it was my first time camping."
~Kaleah

"This camping trip was great, one of the best field trips that I've been on, and some of the best time I've spent with friends. I will forever remember laying on rocks at night and looking up at stars with all of my friends. Aside from fun moments,  felt like I learned a lot about wildlife, such as rare plants and types of butterflies exclusively found in El Prado and Camp Pendleton. A great moment was when we saw bluejays getting chased by other birds while we enjoyed the nature."
~Fredo

"I've lived in cities all my life, so I don't often get to see a sky full of stars. Camping is something I never thought I would enjoy this much."
~Cooper

"This camping trip was my very first time camping. The workshops were very interesting. I loved learning about the firefighters. Before that trip,
I didn't know that firefighters purposely started wildfires for
the benefit of the forest."
~Litzeth

"The last hike was really fun and it was fun cooking."
~Evan N.

"My favorite moment was watching the sunrise
in the morning or stargazing at night."
~Natalie I.

"I had so much fun camping. My favorite part of the trip was all the hikes and stargazing. I usually go backpacking in the woods, so the trip was nice and easy. One thing I learned from the workshops was that firefighters have to carry up to 60 pounds of gear. I also didn't know that there are specific types of firefighters."
~Dani

"During the time with the workshops, I learned that there are certain butterflies that can only have their eggs on certain plants, making them extremely rare."
~Aidan

"It was great being able to create your own meals and
provide for you and your friends."
~Ethan R.

"It was great playing the game at night with Aidan, Nick, Jack, Will, Edwin, Carter and Ms. Carol. It was a fun improv game!
~Kaden

"It was great to have a lot of freedom to do what
we wanted and we all respected each other."
~Connor

"I loved the camping trip so much! It was honestly the best trip I have ever been on. The best parts were when I got to hang out with my friends in the meadow. One thing I learned from the workshop with Lance was that the meadow has plants that are home to an endangered species of butterfly."
~Sami

"One of the things that stuck out to me during the workshops was how you can have the cows in the meadow because if they eat the grass to a certain point, then later it will just grow back so the process just repeats. One other favorite moment I had camping was sitting at one of the campfires and everyone was just talking. It gave me an opportunity to get to know my friends and teachers better."
~Allie

"The scenery and the natural beauty of the place was beautiful. The ability to hang out with friends there was awesome."
~Isaac

"I really enjoyed going camping at the Cleveland National Park. My favorite part of this experience was hanging out with my friends. We hung out all the time, and made so many great memories. I really enjoyed going out to the boulders with my friend, late at night to look at the stars, and early in the morning to see the sunrise. Something that I learned during one of these workshops was all the hard work the forest firefighters do. I didn't know they had to carry all the weight on their back while going up hills and walking long distances. Also something else I didn't know was how they sometimes make their own fires to kind of clean up the forest floors. That was really interesting to me."
~Mattia

"I loved how the trees have holes and nuts in them. The walks are also one of the moments that I enjoyed in my stay at the wonderful forest. The different trails around the camp were amazing."
~Angela

"For the most part, the stars were my favorite part of the trip."
~Alana

"The walking part of the trip was memorable. The hike had funny moments. I also liked looking at the cows."
~Chris C.

"Going out to the meadow right before the sunrise was
beautiful. It was freezing but fun."
~Teia Z.

"One of my favorite moments from the trip is gathering by
the campfire with all my friends, ad cooking s'mores."
~Toby

"The workshops taught me a lot of new things about the different jobs they have at the park and about firefighting. One that most interested me was the firefighter on how heavy their gear was. How do they run, fight fires, and carry the packs at the same time?"
~Andrea A.

"I really enjoyed the presentation about parks and national forests. Something I learned in one of the workshops was that you could have a job writing the content for the national forests. And even though you're writing, you still get to work outside. I'm extremely interested in that position."
~Luce

"This camping experience has broadened my horizons with learning more in depth about many of my fellow classmates. The first experience I had or one of the most memorable would be about the tents. The first few hours was just struggling to set up our group's tent, but that was an experience I benefited from. The workshops were also just as memorable with learning about the invasive bugs that have infiltrated the woods. What really made this trip one of the best would be all of the hikes with my friends."
~Andrew T.

"I enjoyed the visit to the firemen because I learned stuff that I did not know previously. I also liked learning the back stories of how the men got to where they are today."
