The song I chose for the book I’m reading “Catching fire” I chose “Who we are” by Imaginin Dragons. https://youtu.be/C-W40iW2MRs
I chose this song because it’s part of the soundtrack from the movies. It has lyrics about hard days work and examples from forests\nature. Like the book when Katniss was participating in the Hunger Games and the hard days struggles of fending for her self.

I completely agree with the song chose! I have read the hunger games and am reading catching fire and I feel the song goes perfectly with the story not to mention it’s the soundtrack.

This song reminds me of someone going through a rough time and pushing through it. Both the rhythm and the lyrics remind me of this. Also two lyrics remind me of this “It's all uphill from here” and “We were never welcome here”

I love the Imagine Dragons and they're some other songs that might fit for the book too but I love this one more it fits it perfectly. I personally never read the hunger games but I know about them from my older sister. They seem good but great song choice.

(We'll meet again - Vera Lynn)

I am reading From here to Eternity by Caitlin Doughty - Page 195

My book has my author Caitlin traveling the world to view different death rituals. But it's also a commentary on how America wishes to fling the dead into a hole or a fire within 12 hours. Unlike other countries like Indonesia who mummify the dead with herbs then visit the dead years after, and even keep them in their homes for months after death. Or mexico who has a entire day dedicating to remembering the dead, but in america many see that as not being able to let go.
This song fits because in all the cultures described in this book it tells tales about mourning your way, and meeting your dead years after the funeral. To not keep the body locked away and forgotten forever, but to remember, and to keep the idea of your deceased alive, until your passing.

Warriors
By Imagine Dragons

The book i'm reading is The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. I am connecting my song to the dwarves and their past and what they are now.
In youth you'd lay
Awake at night and scheme
Of all the things that you would change
But it was just a dream!
-The dwarves after their home was stolen by the dragon but before they got together to go on this journey.
Here we are, don't turn away now
We are the warriors that built this town
From dust.
-The Dwarves once they got back to their home and their past lives building their home under the Lonely Mountain
Farewell, I've gone to take my throne above
But don't weep for me
'Cause this will be
The labor of my love
-The dwarves explaining that they would do anything to reclaim their home and they are proud of that.

“reunited and it feels so good”
I am currently reading 4000 miles. It is a play script by Amy Herzog. A little summary for what I have read so far. It's about a grandchild and a grandma. The grandchild just came back from a very long bicycle trip and they hadn't seen each other in a long time. Their family history is a little complicated. For the song that reminds me of this book is “reunited and it feels so good”. Not only do the lyrics say what happens (how they were reunited) but the rhythm of the song also reminds me of the book. Especially the part where both in the song and in the book they were excited to see each other. Although in the book it took a little time for the emotional connection between the grandchild and the grandma to show.

The book I am reading is called The Collected Poems of Langston Hughes. By Langston Hughes, with edits from Arnold Rampersad and David Roessel. The song I chose is called One Man Can Change the Word by Big Sean. My song relates to this book because he talked about his life and how in a way he changed/impacted others life, by sharing amazing poems to inspire others.

Hi Aulonnie,

I like the connection you made between Langston Hughes and a Big Sean song, that's pretty cool. I see what you are saying about Langston Hughes being "One (that) Man Can Change The World." He had to overcome hard obstacles and he ultimately had a pretty huge impact on us today. This song reminds me of A.R.I.T.S because it was written by another African American writer Lorraine Hansberry.

Thanks,
Gus

1. R.E.M It's The End of The World As We Know it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0GFRcFm-aY

2. I am reading the Giver by Lois Lowry. The reason I chose this song is because as the title suggests "It's the End of the World as We Know It." Jonas is living in a world that is so different from the world we live in. In his futuristic society, the government controls everything and citizens are sheltered from real ideas. Jonas realizes this, and he wishes that he could live in the world we do today. The line "A tournament, a tournament, a tournament of lies" references the lies that the government have told and their dishonesty. And the the line "Speed it up a notch, speed, grunt, no, strength," is kind of ironic because those are feelings people can't feel anymore because they are mindless and uninformed. Overall, I think this song is a very good song to represent this story.

The song that I chose was Gnossienne No.3 by Erik Satie
This song really relates to my book because through out the story the settings are described as very eerie and secretive. The characters as well are described with secretive backstories which puts the book in a very eerie spotlight in my opinion. The composer of the song is Erik Satie from a long time ago and the book is in an older era so that's a connection I have to the book. The book I am reading is called the Vohhr by B. Catling.

Book:The Fault in our Stars
Author: John Green
Song:See you again
Artist:Tyler the Creator

I chose this song for my book "The Fault in our Stars" because in the lyrics said "Can you give me a kiss ? And can you make it last forever ? I said I'm 'bout to go to war, I don't know if I'ma see you again" and it's about these two 16 year old's who fell in love but both of them have cancer. Hazel Grace is diagnosed with stage 4 Thyroid Cancer with Metastasis forming in her lungs. And Augustus Waters (Gus for short) He haves Osteosarcoma on his right leg. They both met at Cancer Kid Support Group. They hang out after one of the groups started to fell in love had adventures and "okay" was their "always." So the song I chose matches they're both battling a war and spending time till their day comes.

I like how you related Fault In our Stars to "see you again" because its sad in how the 2 main characters are falling in love with one of them being sick and hoping to see each other again. Also to not worry of where they are the next morning. The book and the song relate to sadness. This reminds me of my grandmas dog when I was little named Yakolt. He was the first dog of my grandmas and he would play with us and when he passed away I would always think that if I would see him tomorrow or see him again. I really miss him because we all fell in love with how he was and how friendly he was to all of us.

I chose the song “I always feel like somebody’s watching me” by Rockwell.

I am reading “Connections” by Rainbow Rowell. My song choice relates to my book because it has a very stalker like vibe which is what I am getting so far from my book. My book is about this guy who works for a publishing company. His job is to read over email exchanges to make sure that there is no inappropriate messages. While doing his job, he realizes he is falling in love with the woman he is watching. So I feel the song I’d fitting from the woman’s point of Because someone is literally watching her.

Tony,
I found your song very unique, it goes with the book you are reading. I do think you could have incorporated something that had to do more with when Shmuel asked Bruno for help to find his father; then Bruno disguises himself as one of the prisoners and enters the death camp. Then the two boys end up killed in the gas chambers....Really finding out the moral of the story and finding songs with the same deeper meaning. Other then that I liked the song and learning about the book.

(SAMI DON'T READ THE FIRST PART)
The book I read was History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera.
a song that reminds me of this book is Up All Night by Best Coast (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mcKTfniCx4&t=0s&index=12&list=PLjfn2u6uBp646gvJNVnjSVQ5e6MXYG4i7)

This song reminds me of a part of this book because the main character, Griffin, and his ex-boyfriend, Theo, have to break up because Theo moved away from New York, where Griffin and his friends lived, and lived all the way in California to study animation. Theo eventually moved on and dated someone else, but Griffin hung on to the false hope that Theo would come back to him.

(SAMI YOU CAN READ THIS PART)
Another book I read a few weeks ago is called Messenger by Lois Lowry. The people in the small town the story is set in begin to act meaner and eventually vote on a petition to close the village's open borders, which deeply saddened the Leader, who came to the town from a hostile area (he was the main character in The Giver, FYI), and as they begin to build a wall, and the forest separating them from other towns grew thicker and harsher, a man called Seer, the father figure to the main character of the book, asks the main character to get his daughter from another town because she has been living there and making good changes for the people of that town. A song that reminds me of Seer's situation is Its Ok by Tom Rosenthal (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Khpzs-7WWeA).

My book is called The House On Mango Street, by Sandra Cisnero.
I picked the song "Don't Stop Believ'in" because The House on Mango Street is a 1984 coming-of-age novel by Mexican-American writer Sandra Cisneros. It deals with Esperanza Cordero, a young Latina girl, and her life growing up in Chicago with Chicanos and Puerto Ricans. It talks about a girl growing up by landlords not helping them fix the pipes. Esperanza family then lives at a small one bedroom squished building with a shared yard. She is a hard worker because she wants an office in her house to get a job she wants. Esperanza's family didn't expect to have to move in a small house all the way on the other side of town because the landlords wouldn't help them out. Her family talks about each and every members with emotions. Like lies, madness, and etc. The song talks about shadows and how you shouldn't stop believing like how Esperanza's is trying to achieve a business worker and help her parents out.

(You Got a Friend in Me, Toy Story)

I am reading The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R Tolkien. One of the main themes in this novel is friendship. There are many diverse people (dwarfs, elves, men,) who put aside their differences to come together and create the FELLOWSHIP of the ring. It is also established very early on the friendship that hobbits share. Frodo can't go on his adventure without his good friend Sam, and Sam goes because of his love for Frodo. Amongst the people in the fellowship, they all develop these emotional bonds that help give them the strength to resist Sauron.

I am just finishing my book The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchison. This song reminds me of the main character in the book, Maya. She is a very complicated yet simple character. This song starts off very calm and that reminds me of Maya's submissiveness. She always is in a quiet state and keeps her emotions to herself. Later on the song is a little more upbeat, but still in a calm way. Maya sometimes will act almost a little careless, but she is always collected and personal.

2. I am reading Scott Pilgrim: Gets it Together Volume 4 by Bryan Lee O'Malley. This song relates to the book because a part of the chorus says "You are out of my league" which sort of relates to the way Scott perceives Ramona, his girlfriend. Ramona is super cool and smart and good looking and intimidating, which is a bit out of Scott's league. Another way the song relates to the book is the lyric "You are more than just a dream" because Scott met Ramona in his dreams.

I love the song choice and I could totally picture the way you described the book and the relationship between Ramona and Scott happening in a movie where this song is playing when they meet for the first time then get together and then it plays again at the end and it's like a flashback to the beginning of their relationship. So the song just reminds me of a really tacky high school relationship, or a really tacky love story movie.

(Song: "Look what you made me do" By Taylor Swift)

Lara almost tried to commit suicide because of a boyfriend on Facebook that she thought was real. It turned out that it was her ex best friend Bree who impersonated someone. Bree did it because she was jealous that Lara made it to the cheerleader team and she didn't. She did this to get revenge on Lara because she stole her spotlight. So Bree decided to make a fake Facebook profile and to flirt with Lara so that once she fall in love with the boy, Bree is gonna use the account to dump her. But Bree didn't realize that it would affect her life and almost cost Lara's life. This song is what I feel like Lara would say to Bree. She would say "look what you made me do".

I chose this song because not only do i feel like it has the same king of character just like one of the main protagonist but it has a lot of suspense like some combat scene's the book has. The book i'm reading is called lord of the flies the reason why I choose this song is because the theme of the book is really destructive between the characters towards the end. The song talks about transformation and depression. I feel like that's what they went through in this book with there loss of innocence. They all turn into savages at the end. They start to attack each other in the beginning they were all friends. They crash at this island and they try to cooperate with each other but they end up killing some of each other.

A song that exemplifies a part or the current scene in my book would be Gary Come Home
Written by: Kuzuka Yayoki

Book: The Charm of Soul Pets
Author: 鱼的天空 (Fish’s Sky)

The song Gary Come Home explains the relationship behind an owner and a companion. Once you lose that special companion especially the one you’ve grown up with. Gary Come Home explains how Gary, Spongebob’s pet or a companion has left which then he realizes the true value of the one he has lost.Life and death struggles are one way to get an extremely close bond which the main character Chu Mu and his companion Mo Xie have experienced countless of. The special circumstance in the book is the conflict between him and his captor. The very beginning of the book starts off with our main character being kidnapped, and the situation now is Chu Mu has almost grown strong enough to bring an end to the person who left him is dire straits. Illusions change the tide of the battle as the main antagonist casts one that makes Chu Mu voluntarily remove the pact between his lifelong companion. Mo Xie, whose pact had been removed from her master and friend has lost her memories of the relationship between them. On the verge of defeat, Chu Mu is enraged due to his loss of his companion. The song ties to the events very literally with the loss of a pet, a companion, and a friend.

The Book I was reading is Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code
I chose this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytWz0qVvBZ0

I chose it because one of the main (and one of my favorite) characters is a dwarf named Mulch who is a kleptomaniac. He also digs holes by unhinging his jaw and uses said ability do steal items of value.

The book I am reading is ¨Heart of Europe (Library Edition): A History of the Holy Roman Empire" by Peter Wilson. I choose the song because it is about the Holy Roman Empire, and the HRE believed that they were a Holy confederation blessed by god. Christianity was incredibly important in the Empire, for example, they were always waiting for the second coming of Christ.

The alchemist and it reminds me of the song because the whole book is about following your personal legend and what god has prepared for you and that is what the whole songs about and that book is my favorite book I love it.

I am reading Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. The song I chose to use that relates best is Don’t Leave by Snakehips and MØ. This song really represents Eleanor. She doesn’t have the greatest home life. She is the oldest sibling of 4 others kids and she has an abusive step-dad. From Park’s perspective, he says she’s not always dressed in neat clothes and she doesn’t like talking about her home life. I think this song sums up Eleanor because she is a mess and she wants to be loved just like anyone else.

Listening to this song makes me feel confident but worrysome. It rally’s me up and gets my spirits up, but it also gives me a subtle bad feeling.

They song I chose was Symphony No.2 Major ll. Andante cantabile. by Vasily Kalinnikov.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QB7mMhrXyjE
The book I am reading is called Beyond Good and Evil by Fredrick Nietzsche. This book is about the philosophy behind good an evil actions. It also looks at what constitutes good and evil actions and where we got the idea of good and evil. This symphony conveys the feeling of highs and lows like the book does. The overall tone of the song is combined boys of growth and decay. Symbolizing the good and evil in this world.

When listening to this song it reminded me of my dad because he listens to classical music most of the time. I really like how you connected the book and the song by a symphony and the how you the high and lows symbolize the good and the evil.

Book: Planting Gardens in Graves by R.H. Sin

Page: 228

Song: Papa’z Song by 2Pac https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORp1n8pZ_lQ

The book I am reading is a collection of poems so I decided to pick one poem that represents a theme in my book and write about that. The poem is called Father wasn’t Home and it is about how the author didn’t have a father figure growing up but now looking back on it is okay about it because he realised he didn’t want to grow up and be like him. He wants to become a dad that sticks around. In the song one line says, “ So when I pray, I pray I’ll never grow up to be that way.” This connects to that poetry because he is saying he doesn’t want to be an absent father, just like R.H. Sin. Also in the song 2Pac says, “ I”ll bury moms just like you left me: all alone,G.” This quote represent the repercussions and hurt he was feeling from his father not being there. It connects to the text because not everything bad will most likely come with some repercussion, and R.H. had some too. He didn’t want to grow up like his dad and was scared to try to become a father. Overall, the song and poem have a lot in common because of the overall theme and because both were written by two men who didn’t grow up with a man to look up to.

Gert Wilden - Crafty Party

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoWw2TMOlrA

I’m currently reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The book was written by J.K. Rowling. My choice of a song is very intriguing even to myself. The name Crafty Party and just how the song sounds like something you would hear in a 30’s action movie makes it a unlikely choice for a book about magic. The way I see it however is that it sounds a bit mysterious. Harry Potter is all about Mysteries and Curiosity. There are moments where Harry is trying to get information and is quietly sneaking around in his invisible cloak, making sure he isn’t noticed. Hogwarts is a mysterious place, Owls that bring in letters on a schedule, transforming objects into different object, creating spells that contain such interesting effects, paintings that moves and speak, and secret entrances everywhere. It is mysterious place all right and being in groups is key to not being lost. This song appears to fit best in any part of the book that involves transfiguration, using words and wands to turn objects into other objects is definitely a mysterious sight to be held.

ok i love the HP books and movies sO MUCH

i like how you connected it to sneaking around the castle in the cloak and such. The castle is full of mysteries and secrets and it adds to the story. the song does kind of sound like a 30s song and that was a greta point.

Book- The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien
Song- Go Solo by Tom Rosenthal
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VePaI3jX4Sk&t=21s
I chose this song because I think it applies to the character Jimmy Cross really well. The first line, “They say it’s a matter of time, thousand days and the sun won’t shine, before I come back to you” Cross knows how long the war is, the sun doesn't seem to shine as bright anymore in such harsh conditions, but he wants to come back to the girl he loves (but isn’t sure knows he exists). Which makes the reader feel bad for his situation and wonder why he has just a want to come back to someone he might not have a chance with. The second verse “For your love I will go far, I wanna be wherever you are, I know I’m coming back for you.” He can endure the war because his thoughts of her occupy and block out the bad ones. He knows when it’s over he can come back to her. The very last lines of the song are “I go solo, oh I go solo, I’m making my way home, I’m making my way” Jimmy seems to exclude himself from the group and almost becomes an unimportant character as portrayed in the story because of how he removes himself from the others, he kind of strays away and makes his own way, but it’s ironic because he’s the lieutenant and is supposed to be leading his groups. I really like this song because it sounds like adventure. It sounds like the dramatic song you would put over what would be a loud and visually occupying scene. I picture mountains and people finding their way in vast spaces.

Book- Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare
Song- Warm Healer by Everything Everything
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBhwxieXtCc
This song came to mind when reading R&J because lines from it are used in the song and the lyrics basically tell the same story. The first line of the chorus goes “Babe, don't’ look the other way, I love your face and there’s no more time..” relating directly to when Romeo is being banished and wants to see Juliet one more time. The next line is “Babe, I saw what you did tonight, it’s ugly but it is all I want” relating to when Romeo kills Tybalt, she knows what he did was wrong but she still loves him. Then in the next verse the line “Don’t ask for me tomorrow kid, I think you’ll only find yourself a grave man” which is a quote used in Romeo and Juliet by Mercutio when he was killed. I adore this song and the many meanings you can pull from it. I definitely suggest it to anyone and to listen closely to the choice of words.

I read "Spider-Man, One More Day" by J. Michael Straczynski and Joe Quesada.

In the book, the whole world knows Peter is Spiderman. Someone went to go shoot him, but the bullet missed and hit his Aunt May. She is in the hospital and she's not going to make it, but Peter is trying everything he can so he can fix it. He even goes to Doctor Strange to try to reverse time, but he tells Peter that some things have to happen. A strange dark force appears and wants to make a bargain with him. Give up his marriage with MJ to save May. He eventually does (which I wouldn't have done but okaayyy) All of their memories got erased and Aunt May is fine now. The force said that his love with MJ is very rare and pure, and that type of love only comes once in a very long time.

The song I chose is "In my Veins" by Andrew Belle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGESwIFmOTA
I chose this because this song represents the feeling of someone staying with you even when they are gone. All of their memories with their marriage is gone, a new timeline starts with MJ and Peter being distant. I think that even though its a new timeline, they still vaguely remember parts of stuff, and it stays with them

The book I just finished reading is called Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling.

The song I'm choosing is called Only One by Kanye West.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WibQR0tQ0P8

I chose this because the song is remembering Kanye's mother who died November 10, 2007. It's sung from the perspective of Donda West looking down on Kanye from heaven. This relates to my book because Harry Potter escapes Voldemort by remembering the people he cares about most, and in this scene he remembers his parents and he sees a form of them speaking to him. This reminds me of the song because Harry's parents are just like Kanye West's parents in this metaphor because they're supposed to be talking to him from the afterlife in a way.

Im reading-Doctor Who The Silent Stars Go By. Written By: Dan Abnett

Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkMVyw-7avI I’ll Be Good (By: Jaymes Young)

I chose this song because i find that the lyrics really remind me of the Doctor. This song is about how to be better and that “I’ll be Good”. The doctor has been through alot, he is over 2,000 years old. One lyric is “My past has tasted bitter for years now so I wield an iron fist”. He’s past is full of mistakes and successes but when the bad ones come up he puts his armor up and gets reluctant to so things. He knows not to get to attached to people and to hold back but sometimes he fails to. He is scared to let people in because they know they will get hurt and that's what i think this song is about.

The song I chose was "shooting stars" By Kaan and the book I am reading is called The Night Circus by Eren Morgenstern.

The Reason I chose this song is because the message I get from the song is that not everyone can win and some people are destined to fail and in the book there is a competition going on between two of the most important people in the book and only one of them can win the competition so the song really fit right in.
